Calls for papers and proposals on gender equality

Gender equality in and through education in emergencies, chronic crisis and early recovery

The Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) invites papers and case studies for the commemorative competition marking the first anniversary of the death of Dr. Jacqueline (Jackie) Kirk, a passionate advocate for quality education in emergencies, who had worked with INEE and founded and convened the INEE Gender Task Team. She was killed in August 2008 while working for the International Rescue Committee in Afghanistan.

The competition is open to academic papers and practitioner-authored case studies documenting innovative gender-responsive research, policy or practice in the field of education in emergencies.

Authors can submit work in one of two formats:
• An academic paper which examines an issue related to gender and education in
emergencies.
• A case study that documents an innovative programme or policy related to gender and
education in emergencies.

Prize: $500 for the winning paper in each category
Deadline: November 13, 2009
